I got a bizarre text from this number asking me to send money. Be aware

This same number came up in a warning that popped up after trying to go to youtube.com in Google Chrome. The URL started "security-alert.desktopsupportmessage.com" and then had a lot of miscellaneous letters & numbers. I made the call, was on hold for 8-10 mins. and then just hung up. I was able to close the tab, without further incident. New computer, so thought "hey, maybe I picked up a virus" so I gave it a shot. Looks too bizarre ... probably a new scam ... but no Nigerian prince needs my help so ,,,

I received a call from this number from a man I could hardly understand so I will just give the points I did understand. <br />Something about small pop ups...can't get rid of them.... take over and crash computer. I figured he was full of it and trying to sell me something to avoid this problem.<br />I told him I wasn't interested thank you and he yelled but ma'am you don't understand, this is serious! Your computers will not work...at that point I just hung up.<br />After this I decided "now that he mentioned computers I really need to get on there and get my bills paid. I saw the pop ups when I opened my browser to what looked like the google search page and was not. My computer then stopped working properly. I found out they are hackers and got in my system, got my phone number, called and tried to scare me into paying hundreds of dollars for their product to fix what they got in and broke.
This is another number for the scammer on craigslist that preys on women, he posts a fake job for modeling then harasses them for nude photos and their information.
