This is yet another PC repair scam. This number was displayed in a popup showing my ISP name and to call this number because my browser and computer may be compromised. The website for the popup was security-alert.internetsecuritynotice.com If you start asking questions they will hang up on you. Received a text message:<br /><br />"646-977-6163 has sent you a Sprint Voice Message. To listen call 408-970-0000 or click http://smsvoice.sprint.com/iv.do?ivYn0oBmlcN1sKli-VriqGuA"<br /><br />When I listened to the message it said:<br />"Hi this is Rhea calling from the student loan department regarding the delinquency on your student loan. You must contact the office today to avoid any further action. You can reach me at 646-977-6163 and we can assist you immediately."<br /><br />This is definitely a scam number. It's a cellphone, they opted for generic "student loan department" without saying which loan company, and the phone number to contact is actually the same as the number the message came from - which NEVER happens when dealing with actual credit/student loan/etc accounts. Do NOT call them back.
Someone purported to be the IRS saying they are going to sue us. I know that IRS does not use random area code phone numbers such as 929. DO not call this number and give any information out. It is fraudulent. They apparently are from the New York area.
Scam call from an automated voice mail claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Services (with an S at the end) indicating they where in the process of sing me for back taxes.
