SCAM ALERT!!!! So I get this call from "the legal affairs department of the U.S. Treasury. Its a Hindu guy I can barely understand from a call that just says Eugene Or. 1-541-636-5503. He said I got a letter 10 years ago from the irs and he needs my Lawyers info not to arrest me unless I can make arrangements now. I STARTED LAUGHING, not to mention as soon as I asked to speak to his supervisor or have some quantifiable proof he was who he said he was, he said I was beeing difficult and he was having the Federal Marshals come to my house in the next 45 minutes
first off I was reverse looking up number as he was speaking and he is using a internet phone service (Magic Jack) from Canada. Secondly the IRS doesn't call you, thirdly a 10 year old debt is un collectible if the process hasn't been started within the 7 year period from the date. and lastly I would not have received any refunds in the time in the past 10 years if I owed them any money.
So I decided to have fun i called him 73 times between messages and just talking to him, asking him about these cops etc. then Ben had this app that allows you to change your called ID so I called him from different numbers all day long until he finally blocked his numbers from me and wouldn't answer 303 phone calls.
Please call him as much as you like he goes by Officer Chris Walker, he also goes by Jonah and Robert James 1-541-636-5503

Received a text message:

"646-977-6163 has sent you a Sprint Voice Message. To listen call 408-970-0000 or click http://smsvoice.sprint.com/iv.do?ivYn0oBmlcN1sKli-VriqGuA"

When I listened to the message it said:
"Hi this is Rhea calling from the student loan department regarding the delinquency on your student loan. You must contact the office today to avoid any further action. You can reach me at 646-977-6163 and we can assist you immediately."

This is definitely a scam number. It's a cellphone, they opted for generic "student loan department" without saying which loan company, and the phone number to contact is actually the same as the number the message came from - which NEVER happens when dealing with actual credit/student loan/etc accounts. Do NOT call them back.

Consumer Beware!!!
Re: Student Loan
I called what I thought was a Student Loan Relief Service given to me by a trusted friend who had spoken to Denise. I called and asked for Denise. She no longer worked there and I was transferred to another agent named Mario. He explained their services. Derrick Smith, Manager called a couple days later from the same company. The Coalition for Student Loan Relief which is owned by a law firm located in Michigan. As Mario stated, the Manager Derrick repeated the services" offered. He claimed to arrange with the lender to reduce my monthly payments to "zero" due to "Personal Income Hardship. The zero payment will remain providing you submit a annual form verifying your hardship.
This would be achieved within 90 days. The terms: You are required to sign up with their legal service for 3 months costing $39.99 The loan relief service charges $695.00. However, he had the authority to reduced the cost to $300.00 if you agree to proceed now.
He would send you a Agreement/Acceptance (A/A) Form via email. This form would not list a dollar amount. Payment is accepted by credit card or bank routing number only. Once you reply to the A/A form the binding contract via emailed will sent with all the details. I ask for a copy of the contract via US Mail. He refused claiming that email is faster, you can print a copy and they are not authorized to send sensitive information through the mail.
Consumer Beware!!!
I get a call 2-3 times a week from this company regarding "my student loan." I've never had a student loan so it's just a robo-call using bad business tactics. I threatened to report them if it continued.

Yes, I received several calls from number (406-416-1019). Saying they were from Cash Advance America and saying his name was Spanley Marshall. I'm glad that I listened to my gut feelings and did not send any money or continue with the loan verification. I felt from start that this was some sort of scam operation.

Another SCAM: These are people who say that "As a former military man myself, look pal you still owe the Government back pay that was payed to you during the 1992 - 1994 era, now I'm here to let you know that if you don't pay us back, we will garnish your wages and foreclose on your home, so what I need from you is a solid answer as to when can we expect payment to re-pay this debt?" Funny that I was discharged from the service in 1976, and only served from 1961 til Aug. 1976, hmm
Don't give these People any personal Information, PERIOD! It's a SCAM targeting ex-military members!

These people are scam artists. They claim to be relaying information from various law firms about pending litigation. There is usually a case of fraud or fraud has been associated with your SSI# or name and you have to call a number that they give you and reference a case number that they provide. There are many law firm names associated with this scam but it is all the same people trying to collect non-existent or past statute of limitation debts. Do not provide these people with any personal information and report their activity to your state attorney generals office or your states FBI office. These people are parasites and can be stopped but it will take work and time.
