On tinder in Edmonton I was given this number to text. It was clearly a scam so I never did. Good luck to those who do.

Received a call from a "lieutenant Kevin Palmer" saying from local city, San Diego Sheriff's department and that he had something on his desk from recorders office that I needed to contact him about asap. Called number-mail box full, looked up that branch of Sheriff's Dept. and called them. They don't have anyone by that name listed. Sheriff Dept. said 1. Get a badge # then independently verify that number-if scams they may give a badge that won't match 2. NEVER give any info on phone. Legitimate officers will always have your info already. Very authentic sounding phone call. And conincidentally: recently had possible ID theft on two separate family members and had different types of Scary "Authority" calls for each.
